WARNER BROS has released "HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE" in 4K! Up-converted from the 2K DI, the dark atmosphere intended by its Director, David Yates, is enhanced to the utmost degree. Scenes that were previously, intentionally presented with duller colors and dreary contrast, now offer a starker, yet more dynamic look. These particular scenes evoke what James Whale achieved in his classic horror films!
However, colors are notably better in terms of their overall design than on the blu-ray counterpart. While colors on the blu-ray were typically more intense, the look and feel of what's been achieved with the UHD 4K presentation is certainly preferable. The overall improvement on 4K in comparison to the standard blu-rays (also provided herein) is more distinguished with "HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE" than on "ORDER OF THE PHOENIX."
WARNER BROS. has upgraded the previous 5.1 mix to DTS:X and DTS-HD MA 7.1 for this release. In comparison to the mix found on the blu-ray, scene after scene offers huge improvement in dynamic immersion! Whether it's a chase through a field or the attack at the beginning of the film, viewers will be looking up and all around as effects surround and amaze them! This is one of the best sound-mixes available, ever!
Along with the 4K, WARNER BROS has provided the Ultimate Edition of the film over 2 blu-rays and a digital code. However, at this time, VUDU is not offering the full UHD release, so this reviewer recommend holding off on processing the code until a full UHD presentation is offered.
