BLOWN AWAY

The best thing about "BLOWN AWAY" are its images, the 2nd best thing is its dynamite sound! The DVD has been encoded with Dolby Digital 5.1 on both its English and French tracks. While the story loses its pace here and there, the multitude of elaborate sound effects is what really helps keep things on edge. Director Stephen Hopkins creates some outstanding images right from the film's opening moments The first setting is in a penitentiary set atop a seacliff on a stormy night. The camera glides over the ocean to this location with exquisite details perfectly rendered in the DVD format. Although two laser discs have recently been released with slightly superior sound quality, one in Dolby Digital 5.1, the other in DTS, neither comes close in picture quality to what's achieved here.
