While Director Michael Curtiz's direction isn't as tight as it was with "CASABLANCA", he creates some memorable moments in "A BREATH OF SCANDAL", in spite of some inconsistent pacing.

Sophia Loren stars as Princess Olympia, a beauty banished to the rural countryside so as to not embarrass her family honor, due to her strong sexuality. While her marriage is being arranged with a Prince, she falls in love with an American millionaire. An adversary (Angela Lansbury) attempts to thwart the family plans by revealing the Olympia's situation with the American.

The film has an incredible production design, complimented with a terrific transfer. The acting is generally decent, although Maurice Chevalier's "lovable" yet obvious advice grows tiring after a very short time.

PARAMOUNT has preserved the film's 1.85:1 aspect ratio with 16:9 enhancement. There's a real classy, elegant look to this film, and the costumes stick out due to the slick transfer. Colors are rich and vibrant.  Contrast is excellent throughout. Fleshtones appear natural.

PARAMOUNT has presented a Dolby Digital Mono mix. Fidelity is limited, most noticeably during the film's score. But, dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
