UNIVERSAL has made a great decision in releasing their outstanding "Signature Collection" titles on DVD.  The Collector's Edition of "Dante's Peak" is exactly the same as the deluxe laserdisc edition, however, with an improved picture.   All of the extras are here! The theatrical trailer, a documentary about the film's production, an audio commentary track with the film's director, an alternate track featuring the wonderful isolated film score, and some other things as well. 

The transfer is sensational, with outstanding clarity and contrast.  The film's numerous special effects sequences are greatly aided by the clarity achieved in this transfer.  Adding to the epic-like look of the film, is the 16:9 option, increasing the visual information to each widescreen moment.  The Dolby Digital soundtrack offers non-stop directional effects.
