SRP $49.95 1.33:1 DOLBY STEREO COLUMBIA TRISTAR

COLUMBIA TRISTAR has released SEASON THREE OF “DAWSON’S CREEK” .  In
spite of Kevin Williamson being less hands-on this season, the show’s
still got an embarassingly hypnotic appeal going for it.  The typical
“DAWSON” soap dillemnas continue as we find Dawson and Joey have
ended their relationship. Making things more interesting and a bit
easier for Dawson, is his encounter with a sexually charged woman he
meets on a bus.  Joey’s not alone for long, and eventually ends up
with Pacey!  Another major plot development is built around a
character’s homosexuality.

There’s a fair share of sophomoric atmosphere, but it’s tempered with
some sense of honesty, or at least the “attempt” of honesty in its
depiction of youthful love, transgressions and the attempt to find
ones’ self.

COLUMBIA TRISTAR has preserved the show’s original 1.33:1 aspect
ratio. Colors are solid, although the overall image tends to be a
bit too grainy. Contrast is fine. Fleshtones appear natural.

COLUMBIA TRISTAR has provided a Dolby Digital 2.0 soundmix. Surround
involvment is minimal, however, it offers a fine presence for the
music, which although altered from the original series, is still
quite effective. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from
distortion.

Commentary with an Executive producer and Kerr Smith, is offered on
two episodes. An interactive map is also somewhat engaging, and fans
will certainly enjoy it.
