FOX has released "DECEPTION" on both blu-ray and dvd.  While critics unanimously slammed the film, it's not a bad film. Ewan McGregor stars as a mild-mannered, Jonathan, who, after accidentally switching his cell phone with that of a lawyer is introduced into a world of secret, high-priced sexual dalliances for the wealthy, kidnapping and murder.  There are some creative ideas at play in the script, but unfortunately, most of the film is predictable and the most intriguing aspects of the plot are never realized. Still, the actors are all good, and there are enough tense and erotic scenes to keep one interested throughout.

FOX has provided the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio for the dvd(16:9 enhanced) and blu-ray.  The dvd screener features rich color and impressive contrast, but it doesn't come close to the vibrancy or depth of the outstanding 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 blu-ray.  Grain is evident in both formats, but notably more prevalent on the dvd.  The blu-ray offers incredibly deep blacks for some of the best detail found in the darker scenes of this and any blu-ray release.

FOX has provided a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix for blu-ray, and Dolby Digital 5.1 mix for dvd.  While both mixes are front heavy, there's a surprising amount of directional/panning effects, and all ambient effects are impressive. Music and dialogue are well balanced, but the DTS-HD mix offers notably better dynamic range.

FOX has included a director's commentary that offers little insight, and too much "on-screen" description of the obvious. Two featurettes and deleted scenes are offered(all in hd on blu-ray).
