SRP $39.98 1.33:1 MONO WELLSPRING

For anyone even slightly interested in learning a bit more about spirituality, metaphysics, or eastern philosophy, WELLSPRING has released "DEEPAK CHOPRA: THE ESSENTIAL DVD COLLECTION."  This collection actually consists of four "presentations/seminars" held by Dr. Chopra, spread out over two discs and running for about five hours.  For those not familiar with eastern/western philosophy, any course could feel a bit daunting, and Dr. Chopra does his best to make an introduction accessible for the masses.

Two of the four presentations are given in the form of a lecture. "THE SEVEN SPIRITUAL LAWS OF SUCCESS" will probably feel like the most classroom style talk of the two. But, it's never dull, and Dr. Chopra is so sure of himself and of his message in this lecture, that one can't help but to become extremely captivated.

"THE WAY OF THE WIZARD" is somewhat of a prelude to the other presentations in this set.  Here, Dr. Chopra gives an overview to his take on understanding legends, mythology, and how they can be utilized as a reference of sorts for living a fuller life.

"THE CRYSTAL CAVE" and "ALCHEMY" offer several celebrities, whom are fans of Dr. Chopra, to read various stories associated with the legend of King Arthur and other mystical tales. In between the readings, Dr. Chopra appears to give insight to them, and suggest how these tales might be used in daily life for spiritual well-being and success.

Given that this "Collection" offers two of the lectures within a staged location, with stage lighting, one might expect it to be of limited quality.  However, the image is quite impressive. There isn't much of a color range here, but they're accurate.  There are no halos, and the image is sharp.  Contrast is impressive, offering deep blacks and grays. Fleshtones appear natural.

WELLSPRING has provided a solid image here.

WELLSPRING has provided a monaural track for this release, and it's fine, though unremarkable.  Obviously, this is an entirely dialogue-driven presentation.  Effects are unnecessary. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.

WELLSPRING has provided chapter stops for each discussion.  Additionally, there is a brief bio on Dr. Chopra.
