Those girls of Wisteria Lane are back for a 4th season on dvd, courtesy of BUENA VISTA. Not being a fan of the series, and finding it getting worse with each season, while the show's creator exclaims he's tried to create a show empowering women, the various sub-plots of the series typically offer nothing in terms of originality, and if by "empowering," he means that women can be shown to be just as stupid and selfish and greedy as men, he's achieved his goal. It's really hard to find a character to root for here. While Susan(Teri Hatcher) used to come across as the most normal of the women here, she's become just as annoying and ridiculous as the rest. The constant affairs, running "mystery", and "yes," the narration, has become even more tired for a show in which arguably should have ended after its horrible second season. Yecch!
While some may have felt that addition of the Dana Delaney character improved the series, this reviewer only feels pity for her having to be thrown into this mess. Her character would've been better off moving to a trailer park with, far less "bad" drama than what happens in the 4th season of "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES."
BUENA VISTA has provided the correct 1.78:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9 enhancement. The image is as good as the show is bad! Colors, while not particularly vibrant, are solid and never dull. Detail is better than that found on the 3rd season dvd release, and blacks are darker, providing depth in darker scenes.
BUENA VISTA has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. It's more aggressive than we'd expected, especially in regards to the music, thoroughly complimented with an immersive experience for the audience. Dialogue is well balanced, and ambient effects are continuously pleasing and creative, though subtle.
Extras included: couples commentary(couples featured in the series comment on specific scenes within select episodes, for humorous asides) Deleted scenes, bloopers and more are included.
