While the guys at "SOUTH PARK" may have rightfully skewered some of the short-comings of "FAMILY GUY," (at least earlier on), Seth MacFarlane's animated series has continued to provide regular side-splitting laughs within every single episode, even while some or many of the other jokes within the same episode didn't always work as well.

The latest dvd offering, "FAMILY GUY: VOLUME 8" offers 15 episodes, including one of the series' best, "THREE KINGS," an anthology of Stephen King inspired vignettes, each providing some of the most witty dialogue and ideas to ever pay homage to the horror master.

Another brilliant episode, "FOX-Y LADY" proves MacFarlane has enough pull(ratings)to even poke fun of FOX, as this episode so brilliantly manages to. Sure, some(many quite frequently)of the jokes push the limits of taste, but it's hard to think of a funnier animated series that's as consistently funny as "FAMILY GUY," and thus far, each season has only raised the bar!

FOX has provided the correct 1.33:1 aspect ratio of the series. No explanation is available, it appears, as to why the series hasn't expanded its scope for 16:9.  Colors are rich and vibrant. The image sports impressive detail and is consistently pleasing to the eye!

FOX has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. While it's mostly front channel focused, ambient effects kick in occasionally, with a creative flourish. Musical numbers are enhanced with all speakers and the dynamic range is excellent.

FOX has provided a variety of extras, including: a bunch of commentaries. MacFarlane is always great, but Seth Green and others add some great moments as well. Deleted scenes and featurettes provide even more great entertainment. FOX has done a lot here, to compliment a great show and make "FAMILY GUY: VOLUME 8" an easy no-brainer! GET THIS!!!!!!!!
