While it's been available on dvd for quite a while and it's been ten years since the first "X FILES" movie has been released, the superior quality of blu-ray does a fine job in giving this film the grand presentation it deserves.  It's hard to create a feature film, capturing the eerie, provocative atmosphere of the long-running tv series, and do justice to either its fans or new viewers, however, that's exactly what the first film, "FIGHT THE FUTURE," accomplishes!  FBI agents Scully and Mulder are quickly thrown into a multi-layered world government conspiracy investigation, after a startling opening sequence is followed by yet, another startling sequence. "FIGHT THE FUTURE" begins with a bang and doesn't let up. It achieves an epic-look, contributing to the semi-joke(intentional) that comes along in the film's climax, revolving around a spectacle, completely overlooked by one of the agents. Whether a fan of the series, or having never seen it at all, "THE X FILES: FIGHT THE FUTURE" provides great entertainment quality, and would be a welcome addition to every film collection, worthy of repeated viewings.

FOX has provided the correct 2.40:1 aspect ratio for this 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 blu-ray release.  The image has an intentionally dark atmosphere, so there aren't many sequences calling for rich, vibrant colors. However, when scenes do need that, colors come to life with great saturation. Still, it's important to note, colors are never dull. Deep blacks and grays are crucial, in providing impressive detail in the frequently darker scenes. The opening sequence(brilliant by the way) allows for stunning depth in an icy setting, lit by the flames of a caveman's torch. The wide screen compositions are often stunning and lend a much needed epic scope to a film that could've otherwise been a victim of more restrictive tv-like settings.

FOX has provided a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix.  The mix is both innovative and aggressive, employing careful use of music and bass to highten the tension to many scenes. Directional effects are abundant throughout, and always add to the film's power, while never overshadowing the important dialogue. A GREAT MIX!

FOX has included many extras for this release, most of which are offered in full HD! The audio commentary is terrific and includes an option for "BONUS VIEW," as well as featurettes, a gag reel and more!
