SONY has released the remake of the '70s comedy, "FUN WITH DICK AND JANE".
Originally starring Jane Fonda and George Segal, the remake stars
Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni. The original was fun and flawed, the remake is often side-splittingly funny and a major improvement. The story about an upper-middle class couple who turn to bank robbing once Dick's been screwed with his job by an Enron type situation. The script moves along at a brisk pace, and leaves the viewer wishing there were more. Carrey's comedic pratfalls work perfectly here, and it's one of his better films.
SONY has provided the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio with 16:9 enhancement. The image is rich throughout with excellent detail and vibrant colors. Contrast is flawless.
SONY has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. While most effects are delegated to the front soundstage, surrounds kick in to boost atmospheric effects, but this isn't an aggressive mix. Dialogue is always intelligible but a little soft in spots.
An insightful commentary is offered along with deleted scenes and a gag reel.
