SRP $29.99 2.35:1 PCM 5.1 BUENA VISTA

Alright, Ridley Scott's films are visually pleasing! Some, "ALIEN, MATCHSTICK MEN" are even great! But, most are just plain dumb! "G.I. JANE" is one of the latter. Characters say things that are so incredibly unrealistic, it shocks the senses!  It's obvious there's a problem with the filmmaker when he believes the best way to demonstrate the catharsis of his main character by having her talk like a crude G.I. and utter the words, "SUCK MY D--K!" Wow! Great filmmaking!

There are more than a few action-packed moments, but the buildup around them is just horrible and completely unrealistic. There are no characters in this film that are sympathetic, especially the main one!

BUENA VISTA has provided a 1080p/MPEG-4 transfer with 2.35:1 aspect ratio.  To begin with, it's much sharper than the previously available non-anamorphic dvd version.  Colors are better saturated, even with the intentional blue-tint pervading many scenes. Detail is also fairly impressive. There are scenes that virtually jump off the screen, but many more that are fairly flat. Blacks and grays are discernible in darker moments, but this still doesn't rank up there with many superior BLU-RAY releases from BUENA VISTA, eg "THE GUARDIAN."

BUENA VISTA has provided a PCM 5.1 mix.  It's an aggressive mix, filled with discrete and panning effects. The forgettable score comes to life through all speakers, but never drowns out the dialogue are more subtle effects.

BUENA VISTA has provided numerous trailers.
