Few comedies have the "generally" good-natured comedy, warmth and overall endearing atmosphere of "CADDYSHACK." Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield have never been funnier, and the thought of all three together....? For that reason alone, "CADDYSHACK" is a must-have for any serious HD-DVD collector!

Set mostly at a pretentious Country Club, its members and employees all have various run-ins with one another, highlighting the unfairness of its social class structure, but ...not really.  It's generally, just a bunch of carefully composed sequences showcasing the unique talents of its cast.  Ted Knight is great as the snobby judge, boasting of sending young men to their death for "their own good".  Dangerfield is the very rich, guest and challenger to Knight's domain at the annual golfing tournament.  Chevy Chase, one of Hollywood's most unexplainable successes, is actually good here, but so is everyone.

WARNER BROS. has preserved the film's 1.85:1 aspect ratio.  The image is typically outstanding, offering incredible detail and rich, life-like color levels.  Although there are some intrusive moments filled with grain, this is an impressive transfer, easily overshadowing its dvd counterpart.

WARNER BROS. has provided a Dolby Digital PLUS 5.1 mix. It's a massive improvement over the dvd monaural mix.  While there's little separation in the front soundstage, and surrounds are rarely used, the overall fidelity is great. The witty lines of Bill Murray's character have never sounded this clear!
