BUENA VISTA's "ICE PRINCESS" may entertain "young" girls, but that's about it. This tale stars the amiable, very pretty Michelle Trachtenberg, as a very bright high-school student, whom uncovers a mathematical formula that explains all of the most difficult skating stunts that the very best are using on ice. But, while deciding to try some jumps to support her formula, she develops a true love and talent for skating! The predictable conflict: college or sports? Throw in a snotty competitor and everyone has seen a movie similar to this already. Still, Trachtenberg is captivating and it has a "few" worthwhile moments.
BUENA VISTA has preserved the film's 1.85:1 aspect ratio with 16:9 enhancement. Colors are solid throughout. It's a terrific looking image. There are deep blacks and grays. Contrast is nearly flawless.
BUENA VISTA has presented a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. It's surprisingly more engaging than we'd expected. Surrounds are utilized frequently for atmosphere. The dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
BUENA VISTA has included a audio commentary with Trachtenberg and other cast members. Nothing insightful here about the filmmaking process, but it's actually more entertaining than the film itself! There are some deleted scenes and two music videos as well.
