PARAMOUNT has found treasure in their vaults with "LIFEGUARD", a terrific, poignant drama about a lifeguard, whom now in his 30s, is struggling to figure out what to do with the rest of his life, get into car sales as he's being begged to, or continue as a lifeguard? There are also other decisions he needs to contend with, including whether to become more serious with girlfriend, Anne Archer(a very young Anne Archer). A very young Parker Stevenson gives a great performance as the rookie lifeguard, hoping to learn from the old pro.
While this could've easily become a silly, "B" movie, the fine script, acting and direction, make this one worth owning.
PARAMOUNT has preserved the film's 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9 enhancement. Colors are solid for the most part. While there are some moments with grain, the detail is impressive. Contrast is excellent.
PARAMOUNT has provided a Dolby Digital Mono mix. While a stereo remix would've enhanced the music, we're impressed with the great fidelity range, particularly in terms of the great soundtrack.
