Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan play Tom and Hannah, two best friends who share a "WHEN HARRY MET SALLY" type relationship. When Dempsey's womanizing character finally realizes she's the one for him, she announces she's found the "one!" She asks Dempsey if he'll be her "maid of honor" when marrying the fiance in his home of Scotland. Thinking it's his only chance of stopping her and claiming her for himself, he agrees. There's not anything new or unpredictable about the plot, and this reviewer still can't understand Michelle Monaghan's popularity, but Dempsey has shown remarkable appeal and substance since his younger days of "CAN'T BUY ME LOVE'" There are enough fun scenes with supporting actors, to make this one worth watching, and many will find it enjoyable even after repeated viewings.
SONY has provided the correct 2.40:1 aspect ratio for this 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 blu-ray release. Colors are vibrant throughout, without any hint of oversaturation. The detail is often remarkable, and the varying locations between city life and the lush landscapes of Scotland make this a wonderful high-definition travelogue. The contrast is excellent, with inky blacks allowing for great detail in some of the darkest scenes. There are no artifacts and even with a few scenes appearing soft, this is typically close to reference quality.
SONY has provided a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix. Being a comedy mix, surrounds aren't aggressive, with most separation effects delegated to the front. Still, ambient effects are well balanced and the score kicks in effectively through all speakers, enhancing some key scenes with an immersive quality.
A bland commentary, two featurettes(in high-def) and deleted scenes, are included.
