SRP $39.98 1.85:1 DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 FOX

It should be no surprise that many cab drivers, waiters, in L.A., etc are aspiring writers, especially when finding that the writers/directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, responsible for one crappy parody after another, beginning with the dreadful "SPY HARD" keep getting work and making trash that makes money. Their latest, "MEET THE SPARTANS" is yet another example. A sample of their "great" wit for satire, is playing the Gloria Gaynor song, "I WILL SURVIVE" as the tough men go to battle and certain death. INGENIOUS? Not really!  But, that's probably the most innovative moment within this dreadful film.  Oh, yea, there's also the beautiful, but aging none-too gracefully, Carmen Electra licking her tongue lustfully at the foreigner, behind her husband's back, is another "Great" moment. Where did they come up with such original ideas? Blecch!

Only kids might enjoy this hodgepodge of bad jokes, but there are enough tasteless jokes and crudeness(without Farrelly Bros wit)to make it unsuitable for them, assuming they have mindful parents.

FOX has provided the correct 1.85:1 aspect ratio for this 1080p/MPEG-4 blu-ray release.  The colors are flawless, pushing richness to ultimate levels, without oversaturation. Contrast is close to flawless, and detail is so perfect, that virtually every scene offers "jump off the screen" depth! A great looking transfer!

FOX has provided a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 mix.  While comedy mixes, by nature, are inherently limited in range, there are ample surround effects and bass effects are often notable. Music, which doesn't help the intended comedy, does sound terrific here.

An Audio commentary, featurettes, and gag reel(all in standard resolution)are included.
