WARNER BROS. has released "My Blue Heaven" as one of their "lower line" series(titles with an srp of $14.98) While we're disappointed it's not letterboxed, the transfer looks pretty nice, with excellent color values, although contrast is problematic at times. The dolby surround sound isn't extremely active, although it boosts the wonderful musical score. "My Blue Heaven" is one of those rare films that actually gets better with age. This reviewer didn't enjoy it at the time of its release, but some 9 years later, it had me grabbing my sides during a scene in which mobster Steve Martin expresses his "goodfellas" need to overtip everyone, even stewardesses.

While this reviewer finds Clint Eastwood to be an overrated director(Unforgiven), the script to "True Crime" is so compelling that even his heavy hand has a hard time mucking it up. The film, about a reporter desperately hurrying to save an innocent man from execution, is often tense, but still suffers from uneven pacing. The transfer looks wonderful, with flawless contrast and color values. The dolby digital 5.1 sound offers an extremely active sound mix, and a wonderful score. Also included: 2 behind-the-scenes documentaries, a music video and more!
