"My Favorite Season" achieved "Top Ten" rankings on numerous film critics lists of 1996.  Cathrine Deneuve and Daniel Auteuil star as the brother and sister of a severely troubled family.  While it explores relationships in a fresh way, much in the same way as "Ordinary People" did,  there's no psychiatrist here.  The audience is the impartial observer as conflicts, hidden secrets, and raw emotions surface with an honest beauty to them.  The dvd transfer is excellent with a proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio intact, vivid colors and perfect fleshtones.   While the dolby stereo sound offers a few directional effects, its main purpose is for background atmosphere.
