Not nearly as bad as the title would suggest, "MY GIRL 2" follows the growing and learning experiences of Vada Sultenfuss. Now 13, Vada's dad has married Shelly, and while they await the arrival of their first child together, Vada feels overlooked.
When she must choose to write about someone significant to her for school, she chooses to write about the mother she's never met. Of course, this quest results in her taking a journey to California in the hopes of learning about her. In the process, she meets new people, and learns more important lessons about love, life and loss. The star of the film, Anna Chlumsky, is actually quite good, and she has to carry most of the film by herself, which she manages with real charm. Dany Ackroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis are back in the same roles, but have much less to do this time out.
COLUMBIA TRISTAR has presented this release in pan&scan only. For the most part, the image is sharp, and colors vibrant. However, there are other scenes wherein the image is either grainy or too soft. There is also some minor grain in spots.
