SRP 25.98 1.85:1(16:9) DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 MGM

MGM has released one of the better comedies with “National Lampoon”
attached to it in some manner.

If we were to describe the storyline of “DORM DAZE” on paper, it
would make it appear more complex than it actually is. It is NOT
complicated! The storyline revolves around numerous pranks, mistaken
identities(more than one!)big boobs, a hooker, foreign exchange
students and more.  Many jokes fall flat, but the ones that work,
more than make up for the film’s flaws, and there are some
side-splitting moments.

While MGM is releasing both Rated and Unrated versions, this
“Unrated” review copy doesn’t have anything in it pushing the “R”
envelope.

MGM has preserved the film’s 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9
enhancement.  Colors are generally solid, although grain appears
occasionally due to the film’s modest budget. Fleshtones appear
natural throughout.

MGM has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix.  It’s a standard comedy mix
with little use of surround/discrete effects. Still, the front
soundstage offers some separation, and the music is well complimented
with at least three speakers. Dialogue is always intelligible and
free from distortion.

MGM has provided some notable extras for this release. The film’s two
directors and a film editor provide a running commentary.
Unfortunately, it’s pretty dull.

At least a short featurette, “HE SAID, SHE SAID: BEHIND THE SCENES OF
THE FANTASTY SEQUENCE” offers more footage of hot Playboy Playmate
Katie Lohmann.

The best extra is “NATIONAL LAMPOON’S MASTER DEBATERS” in which
Danielle Fishel and Tatyana Ali appear, debating their own respective
show is better than the other’s.
