SRP $39.98 1.85:1 PCM 5.1 FOX

Ben Stiller plays a down on his luck, divorced dad seemingly always "just" missing the big chance at fame and fortune, and always a day away from being on the streets. When about to get another eviction, he grabs the only job he can find, as a night security guard at Brooklyn's Museum of Natural History.  Of course, it's not long before Larry finds out a big secret from some amiable retiring guards. There's a curse on the place, causing its inhabitants to come to life at night. But, if they don't make it back to their proper places by dawn, they are destroyed.  This leads to great characters coming to life, including Atilla the Hun, Teddy Roosevelt and more. There are impressive special effects and hilarious antics throughout.  "NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM" is a fun film for the whole family!

FOX has provided a 1080p/MPEG-2 transfer with the correct 1.85:1 aspect ratio.  It's a very colorful transfer and the detail is terrific. Darker scenes take advantage of deep blacks and grays. Many scenes offer the "jumping off the screen" type of imagery we'd want from high-def!  Edge enhancement does appear a little to bit for our liking, however. While the overall image is great, it's disappointing to find this problem hasn't been eliminated on an already fine looking disc.

FOX has provided a PCM 5.1 mix.  It's a sensational mix! Discrete and panning effects consistently play out from beginning to end, and even with layers of effects, dialogue and music are perfectly balanced. There are numerous moments wherein the bass kicks up everything a notch for a really fun listening/viewing experience. One of the most entertaining mixes to come from FOX thus far!

Unfortunately, most of the extras from the dvd haven't been carried over. We do get two ho-hum commentaries and trailers in full 1080p.
