While much of the kid-targeted programming on cable is derivative of every formulaic show that preceded it, "PHIL OF THE FUTURE" offers a refreshing combination of consistently fine writing, impressive technical credits, and a good cast.

BUENA VISTA has released "PHIL OF THE FUTURE: GADGETS AND GIZMOS", a compilation of four episodes from the tv series.

This fun family-oriented series revolves around Phil and his family, who've been accidentally trapped in present time, instead of where they belong, 2121 A.D., due to problems with their time machine.  This premise allows for Disney-style hi-jinks as kids will be kids and parents have to rescue them from trouble using good parenting skills as well as some futuristic life-saving, catastrophe preventing devices such as their portable "WIZARD."

Paying homage to other successful family-oriented comedies, it's just not enough to have a family from the future.  Phil's family also has been given a caveman to live with them.

"GADGETS AND GIZMOS" features the following episodes, including one that has never aired on American tv as of yet.  "DOUBLE TROUBLE", "AGE BEFORE BEAUTY", "MY WAY", "TEAM DIFFY".

BUENA VISTA has preserved the series' 1.33:1 aspect ratio.  It's a terrific transfer, with rich colors and fine detail. "PHIL OF THE FUTURE" is blessed with a great production design and it's well complimented here.

BUENA VISTA has provided a DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 mix for this release. While not overly aggressive, there are a fair number of surround/discrete effects and it adds to the show's fun atmosphere. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.

BUENA VISTA has included some great extras! An audio commentary with Ricky Ullman(Phil) is offered on "TEAM DIFFY", and it's actually more entertaining than many commentaries offered on feature films!  There's also a great chapter, "2121 FALL CYBER CATALOGUE" that examines ten gadgets from the show, with a narrative description and 360 view. Fans of the show will love this!
