SRP $99.98 1.78:1 DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio FOX

After failing all legal attempts to free his wrongfully convicted brother from Death Row, Michael Scofield embarks on a treacherous mission to put himself inside the jail he helped design, in an effort to break his brother out, and escape certain death.  While there are mountains of incredulous and overly convenient situations permeating the first season of "PRISON BREAK," there are some genuinely creative surprises and the acting and directing are first-rate!  The prison setting has more than its share of disturbing sub-plots, echoing "OZ" and other prison tales, but it's tightly paced and the overall design of the series makes it easy to overlook inherent flaws, as they appear.  There are also plenty of scenes on the outside, for those that would otherwise feel too depressed or claustrophobic within the prison walls.

The series, depending on numerous cliff-hangers, is well-written, and by the end of this blu-ray boxed set, there will be many owners clamoring for "SEASON 2" to be released asap!

FOX has preserved the correct 1.78:1 aspect ratio within the 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfer provided.  It's a remarkable looking blu-ray for many reasons! Perhaps most importantly, even though it has an intentionally gritty design, grain is never a problem and colors are rich and vibrant in every single scene of every single episode!  The blacks and grays are incredibly deep, offering reference quality depth in even the darkest scenes. THIS IS A DEMONSTRATION QUALITY BLU-RAY!  Image after image jumps off the screen and there isn't one frame where the image looks flat!

FOX has provided a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio mix.  This is an aggressive mix, and it's both amazing and fun to find a tv program that is more engaging than most recent film releases on blu-ray! The music is almost a character of its own in this series, and it's perfectly complimented through all speakers at key moments. The careful blending of discrete effects, dialogue and music is flawlessly balanced throughout. There are some great bass effects as well.

FOX has presented the 22 episodes from SEASON ONE over 6 discs. There are some audio commentaries(all of which are insightful and generally entertaining).  There are a few brief featurettes and some deleted(unnecessary)scenes.
