SRP $29.95 1.85:1(16:9) DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 COLUMBIA TRISTAR

It's surprising that "QUITTING" didn't receive larger audiences in the art houses of America than it did. "QUITTING" is a masterpiece!  It breaks boundaries, and is simultaneously startling and invigorating at the same time.  Jia Hongshen stars as himself, in the story of his spiral downwards from heroin addiction and mental illness, and the inspiring recovery that followed.  The fact that the story happened in China, an area wherein social stigmas die hard, makes this true story even more compelling.

Most of the real people, including the star as well as his family and social workers actually play themselves, making a unique film even more creative. Most importantly, it works!

COLUMBIA TRISTAR has preserved the film's original 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9 enhancement.  While the image suffers from grain in spots, colors are often vibrant, and this is a solid looking transfer.  Contrast is decent, but the black/gray discernment is average, limiting it from sharp clarity in darker scenes.

COLUMBIA TRISTAR has presented a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. Surround sounds are virtually non-existent, save for some ambient effects. There is some separation in the front soundmix. Being a dialogue-driven film, the lack of an aggressive mix doesn't diminish any of the film's impact.

Several trailers are included.
