With the incredulous lack of creativity in Hollywood, a rush to remake cartoon and tv series for film has created some awful films. While even the cartoon series wasn't that great, this film version is extremely hard to sit through for any adults. However, the younger kids watching this film, have enjoyed it even after repeated viewings. Following a storyline similar to the basic tv episodes, the gang of youthful investigators, including real life husband and wife Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar, join up with Scooby and the rest to solve mysterious goings ons at a theme park.
WARNER BROS has provided a 1080p/VC-1 transfer with 1.85:1 aspect ratio. It's a surprisingly great looking image. While not impressed with the CGI effects responsible for Scooby on dvd, the dog looks great on blu-ray! For the most part, images tend to have a pop off the screen appearance. But, there are a few instances wherein the image comes across flat as well. Blacks and grays are deep, providing depth in darker scenes.
WARNER BROS. has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. Far from aggressive, this mix offers few surround effects. There are some engaging separation effects directed to the front soundstage. However, it's at least on par with the dvd version. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
All of the extras from the standard dvd have been carried over here, including a commentary, additional scenes and much more!
