WARNER BROS. is continuing their schedule of “SCOOBY DOO” releases, with their newest title, “SCOOBY DOO AND THE LEGEND OF THE VAMPIRE.”
While at a “Vampire” rock festival in Australia, the gang ends up investigating the disappearance of Matt Marvelous, someone destined to win a band contest. When witnesses blame a group of musicians-turned-vampires, the gang goes undercover as, a rock group! Their plan is to become the bait for the kidnappers, but of course, Scooby, Fred, Daphne, Shag, and Velma end up getting more than they bargain for, and there are plenty of chances for everyone to get spooked and surprised, as they either hide or pursue someone.
While not the greatest episode or feature film release to come from WARNER BROS, there’s still enough going for “SCOOBY DOO AND THE LEGEND OF THE VAMPIRES” to recommend it. Unlike some long-running cartoons, this one features many of the original voices, so adults will enjoy the nostalgic values to it along with their children. The show’s original music is intact, and the general atmosphere to this film is quite fun.
WARNER BROS. has presented the show with its proper 1.33:1 full frame aspect ratio. The animation, including background imagery, is fine, and in keeping with the typical Hanna-Barbera limitations of depth, but, with rich and vibrant colors.
WARNER BROS. has presented a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio mix, and while there isn't much use of surrounds, there are some fun effects and there are separation effects focused towards the front stage. Dialogue is intelligible and free from distortion.
