"Sleeper" is certainly one of Woody Allen's best comedies.  The script is witty enough to still work well today, even though much of the humor was obviously inspired by events of the 70s.  Allen plays a fool frozen and then thawed out way in the future.  Things have changed drastically.  Cigarettes and red meat have been found to be healthy, vegetables are bad!  You can see where the film's going.  While there's social commentary, there's an abundance of slapstick(Wait 'till you see Allen flapping his hands trying to fly!) and the film makes for repeated viewings.

Unfortunately, the transfer is a mixed bag.  While the 16:9 enhancement, makes for a better picture.  The source material is just above average, with signs of age throughout the film.  There's nothing colorful about the film, but contrast is fine.  The film, as with all Allen's films, is mono, and sound quality is fine.
