COLUMBIA TRISTAR has released a terrific film from Argentina, "SON OF THE BRIDE".
Ricardo(NINE QUEENS)Darin stars as the hardworking owner of an Italian Restaurant passed down to him by his father. His daily efforts to run the place correctly and live up to his father's expectations are bringing him stress, sickness, and pure misery. He isn't enjoying his life, and feels that as hard as he works, he's never really accomplished anything to feel proud of. His own mother lets him know of her disappointment in his career choice. He doesn't have a warm family of his own, as his former wife feels nothing but resentment towards him, and he's not a great father to his daughter.
However, when a childhood friend pops up, he begins to realize the significance of "time" and the relationships around him. The story is so "simple" in many ways, but always magical. It truly gets the audience as well as the main character to begin to think about life in a different way.
"SON OF THE BRIDE" is obviously a labor of love from everyone involved. It's a great film, and one not to be missed.
COLUMBIA TRISTAR has presented the film with its proper 1.85:1 aspect ratio and 16:9 enhancement. The colors are solid throughout, although fleshtones aren't always consistent. There's great depth to almost every scene, and the cinematography is beautiful. Contrast is excellent, with deep blacks and greys.
COLUMBIA TRISTAR has presented a Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 soundmix for this release. It's not aggressive, with most effects allocated to the front soundstage. However, the surrounds provide ambient effects and a beautiful score. The dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
The film's original trailer is included.
