MGM has just released “STARGATE SG-1: SEASON 6.” With “SEASON 7”
currently running, MGM achieved terrific quality dvd boxed set
presentations with a speed, practically unprecedented.	While “SEASON
6” further demonstrates major changes from the season preceding it,
it also offers some great guest appearances from the character of
“Danel Jackson, Ph. D.
Richard Anderson continues leading the “SG” team as Col. Jack O’
Neal. And, even with the loss of a major character, the introduction
of a new one, Jonas Quinn breathes new life into an already addictive
series. Sure, there are some episodes that fail to keep up with the
momentum of previous seasons, but for every “so-so” episode, there’s
an episode like “Nightwalkers” or “The Other Guys” to demonstrate
just how great the show can be.
MGM has preserved the show’s 1.78:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9
enhancement. Colors are solid and vibrant. While there’s some
minimal grain in a few instances, the overall image quality is
excellent. Contrast is great, with deep blacks and grays. Fleshtones
appear natural.
MGM has presented a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix that is “outstanding!” The
music fidelity and creativity of discrete effects, creates a
memorable impression for each episode.
Bettering even the previous season releases, “SEASON 6” offers
commentary for each and every episode!	Any fan of the show can find
some noteworthy information on these tracks, and while some episodes
are better than others, the commentaries for each are all worthwhile,
and never dull.
