PARAMOUNT is releasing the 3rd season of STAR TREK: VOYAGER.  The
series continues in improving with each progressive season.  The
Voyager’s crew is still trying to find its way home in less than the
predicted 70 year term they’re facing, as they run into one dilemna
after another.
Although there are some themes and plot elements running over several
episodes(and in some cases, entire seasons), the individual stories
often stand on their own here. The adversaries never cease to
intrigue, and there are plenty of them introduced in the 3rd season.
Even with the “Kazon” storyline ending here, the Borg and others gain
more prominence.

Sure, there are some lackluster episodes, but Season 3 has more than
a few episodes worth repeated viewings, and some, like “FLASHBACK”,
and “FUTURE’S END” that are destined to be classics!
PARAMOUNT has presented the season over 7 discs, within the same
packaging as the previous two seasons.

PARAMOUNT has provided the correct 1.33:1 aspect ratio for this
release.  While the overall quality of the transfer is fine, it’s not
as sharp as the previous seasons  have been. Colors are solid, and
often vibrant, but there’s a consistent softness to the image.

PARAMOUNT has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix for this release.
While there are a few instances wherein surrounds become engaged,
most of the mix is delegated towards the front and separation isn’t
as aggressive as in the previous seasons. Dialogue is always
intelligible and free from distortion.

The 7th disc is  comprised of extras.  Various featurettes offer
interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and insight as to how various
effects were accomplished. This is another fine presentation of a
fine season, with the promise of better to come. After all, Jeri Ryan
begins appearing as “7 of Nine” next season!
