Targeted towards the Saturday morning tv teens audience, the first season of "SWEET VALLEY HIGH" is now available on dvd from BUENA VISTA.  Real-life twin sisters Cynthia and Brittany Daniel, star as Elizabeth and Jessica. Both pretty blondes are mirror opposites. One is snobby and generally uncaring and the other is a down-to-earth, (beautiful)nerd.  Based on a popular book series, "SWEET VALLEY HIGH" is more predictable and cautious than "Beverly Hills 90210", but it's similarly engaging.  While the show tries its hardest to reach the masses through tired cliche's, it still managers to teach a lesson or two about right from wrong, along the way.

All 22 episodes from the first season are included in this boxed set.

BUENA VISTA has preserved the show's original 1.33:1 ratio. Unfortunately, the image isn't nearly as solid as most BUENA VISTA releases.  The locations and production design really offer great imagery, but colors are never fully realized due to a constant softness to the picture. There's also a fair amount of digital breakup.

BUENA VISTA has provided a terrific soundmix. The 2.0 Surround really kicks into high gear in terms of music. In fact, music adds a lot of quality to the show and it never overshadows the dialogue. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
