Writer/Director Juzo Itami's "A TAXING WOMAN" is available from WELLSPRING on dvd.  This witty comedy is about a female tax inspector, seeking to bring down a very deceptive tax cheat.  The film at times resembles a "Pink Panther" film, with plenty of cat-and-mouse moments, and even some great slapstick.  It's also very fast and innovative.  While comedy is what makes the film move, there's a romantic element just beneath the surface, giving the film it's real substance.  The transfer is generally fine, but we're extremely disappointed WELLSPRING didn't elect to present this release in letterbox.  The image looks a little tight at times, and even the trailer offered here is full frame, not allowing the viewer to see what the original aspect ratio to the film is.  The image has some grain, but no artifacts.  Fleshtones appear natural. The sound is mono. Subtitles are in white
