While the animated release, "THE 3 WISE MEN" from DISNEY, has its share of entertaining moments, those expecting a treatment akin to what DREAMWORKS managed to do with the story of Moses in "PRINCE OF EGYPT" will be disappointed. In fact, the Nativity story takes a far distant place in this tale, having to with the 3 wise men venturing towards Jesus. While there are plenty of entertaining characters created for this film, and enough action to intrigue even the most easily distracted children, its overall emphasis on grandiose effects in place of narrative, can be annoying for adult viewers.
DISNEY has provided a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with 16:9 enhancement. Colors are generally bright, though the image is never vibrant. While Disney is releasing this title, it's not a "DISNEY" production. Originally produced by "Animagistudio", veterans behind "TARZAN" and other DISNEY films are now allegedly there. While the animation never comes close to more recent DISNEY films, the 2-D look is still far better than many animated releases.
The film sports a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. While never aggressive, there are some fun, engaging surround moments. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
