When Sean, a spoiled brat from the South gets in trouble with the law for the third time, rather than face eternal prison, his dad has him relocated to live with him in Tokyo. Of course, it doesn't take Sean any time at all to anger local toughies within the world of "drift racing". He gets caught up in this phenomenon and tragedy ensues.  Of course, as only films like this and "BIKER BOYZ" manage to do, viewers are supposed to root for the main character's redemption by fire. It's a very silly movie, but like "BIKER BOYZ", it's highly entertaining as well.

This film has the least in common with its predecessors, in terms of storyline, but it manages to provide car race fans with plenty of action, great chase/race scenes and energetic pacing. There are even some pretty girls thrown into the mix, but then again, it's only PG-13. Still, for what it is, "THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT" is highly entertaining and highly silly, all at the same time.

UNIVERSAL has released "THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT" as one of their HD-DVD combo Format presentations, offering the HD-DVD on one side and the standard dvd version on the opposite side.

UNIVERSAL has provided the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio for both the HD-DVD and dvd.  It's a sensational looking transfer. Colors are solid and extremely vibrant on both, but the HD-DVD offers color saturation that takes it to a new level. It looks astounding!  The blacks and grays are also terrific, providing one of the most incredible high-def images we've seen thus far.  The level of depth in every single scene, without any flaws, makes this a "DEMONSTRATION QUALITY" HD-DVD that should be in every HD-DVD collection! The dvd is quite good too, but it can't compete with the level of detail so obviously superior on HD-DVD.

UNIVERSAL has provided a DOLBY DIGITAL PLUS 5.1 mix.  It's an aggressive mix. While we're still disappointed UNIVERSAL opted to provide "END OF DAYS" with a Dolby TrueHD mix instead of this title, the PLUS 5.1 is great in its own right. This is a great mix on every level. Subtle sounds are used effectively and discrete/panning effects add great tension and excitement to every action scene, of which there are many. This is another example of how a silly film can be used to showcase the advantages of a great looking and sounding HD-DVD. Bass effects will rock the room as well!

UNIVERSAL has loaded this HD-DVD with extras! In addition to featurettes, commentary and deleted scenes, there is an extensive supply of HD exclusive extras wherein the viewer can pull up incredible amounts of special features. THIS IS A MUST BUY!!!!
