SRP$39.98 2.35:1 DTS-HD Lossless 5.1 FOX

Jason Statham stars in "THE TRANSPORTER", one of the best action films of the past few years.  Whereas many "action" stars fail due to their inability to pull off the tough-guy role, Statham makes this one his own!  He plays Frank Martin, a professional driver, skilled in many things, including martial arts.  He's willing to "transport" anything for the price he deems right. His career and moral code come into question when he starts questioning his most recent assignment, "transporting" a live object in a large duffel bag. After breaking the rules of his own code, including looking in the package, he finds a beautiful Chinese girl named Lai, and a relationship begins to develop. As Martin figures out why she's been kidnapped, he chooses sides and must face numerous deadly obstacles to save himself and the girl.

"THE TRANSPORTER" has its share of credibility problems, but like a Bond film on steroids, it matters not.  The film moves at a break-neck pace, with stunning action sequences and great images.

FOX has provided a 1080p/MPEG-2 transfer with 2.35:1 aspect ratio.  As expected, the Blu-ray is noticeably sharper than the standard dvd.  There are still problems with grain in various scenes, but the detail is often great. While it doesn't have the overall "WOW" factor of the best BLU-RAY releases out there, there are some "WOW" moments, particularly during the brightest scenes. Blacks are deep and darker scenes demonstrate fine clarity.

FOX has provided a DTS-HD Lossless 5.1 mix.  This is an aggressive mix, with all of the elements to extensive car chases well processed via all speakers with great fidelity. The surrounds kick in to high gear at just the right moments and it's a fully engaging experience.  The only detracting element to the mix is a surprisingly moderate utilization of bass effects. One would have expected more bass with as many explosions taking place in this film. But, the sub-woofer doesn't get much use.

FOX has provided audio commentary with Jason Statham and the film's producer. While nothing earth-shattering here, Statham is entertaining throughout and fans will enjoy some behind-the-scenes info.

Several trailers for other FOX Blu-ray titles are included in full 1080p!
