ARTISAN ENTERTAINMENT'S dvd release of "TREE'S LOUNGE" offers the same extras found in the laserdisc version, but with an even sharper transfer. There's still some grain present in darker scenes, but overall, there's more definition throughout the film. Director/writer/star Steve Buscemi has crafted an entertaining personal film. The title refers to the neighborhood bar in which the main character congregates with various characters. Mimi Rogers, Daniel Baldwin and others make up some of these quirky, amusing characters. The film's transfer is presented in the proper 1.85:1 ratio, but we wish it had been enhanced for 16:9 as is a more common practice with ARTISAN releases. The Dolby Surround sound isn't too eventful, due to minimal separational effects, although the musical score is excellent and seems to liven the soundtrack. There's also a director's commentary and a music video within the menu.
