Ashley Judd has appeared in so many similar roles in
PARAMOUNT films(DOUBLE JEAPORDY,etc) that her role in “TWISTED,” is
somewhat a change for her. She plays Jessica, a San Francisco
detective on the homicide squad. She’s only recently been promoted
when a number of murder victims begin to appear, all having had
previous one-night stands with her. Judd does a fine job here, and her
co-stars are all terrific. Samuel L. Jackson, Andy Garcia and David
Straitharn all add class to the film, as well as numerous red
herrings. The film’s conclusion is somewhat predictable, but Director
Philip Kaufman has crafted this tale so carefully that it’s
entertaining all the way through.
PARAMOUNT has preserved the film’s 1.85:1 aspect
ratio with 16:9
enhancement. It’s terrific! There’s great detail in every scene, but
particularly in close-ups where even blemishes are apparent! Contrast
is flawless, offering fine detail in darker scenes. Fleshtones appear
PARAMOUNT has provided a DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 mix. It’s
mix, with non-stop panning/discrete effects. The wonderful Marc
Isham score is well complimented here through all speakers. Dialogue
is always intelligible and free from distortion.
PARAMOUNT has provided a variety of extras here.
provides a running commentary. Unfortunately, most of it is simply
describing what is happening onscreen.
While there are “10 DELETED SCENES WITH OPTIONAL
COMMENTARY”, none of them add to the film’s structure, and most are
simply extended scenes.
PARAMOUNT has provided three featurettes. They deal
with the San
Francisco location, real detectives, and the film’s overall suspense
