WARNER BROS has just released "TWO AND A HALF MEN: SEASON 4" on dvd. Charlie Sheen, John Cryer and a plenty of supporting beauties return again in this often hilarious series, concerning an orthopedist(Cryer) and his son living in the Malibu home of Cryer's brother, a wealthy philanderer, played perfectly by the surprisingly amiable Charlie Sheen. While some of the 24 episodes featured are funnier than others, there isn't one lacking more than can't bring a smile to a viewer's face, and more typically laughs that last the entire duration of an episode.
Season 4 presents its share of potty humor, but there's plenty of wit to these same episodes as well. Alan's going through his usual turmoil, as his most recent wife, Kandi, has divorced him, and although Charlie is seldom without a beauty in his home, even questions concerning his heterosexuality figure into one of the best episodes, "Tucked, Taped and Gorgeous."
WARNER BROS. has provided the correct 1.85:1 aspect ratio for this 16:9 enhanced dvd set. Colors are solid throughout and blacks and grays are deep enough to present impressive detail in darker scenes. There are a few artifacts popping up in spots, but never to the point of being intrusive.
WARNER BROS. has provided a Dolby Digital 2.0 mix. While surround effects are limited, the separation focused towards the front speakers is more active than found in most comedy series.
WARNER BROS. has provided extras, including a gag reel and short featurette. Unfortunately, as great as the commentaries are, they're only offered for two episodes.
