The benefit of DVD subtitle options can be readily observed with "R.E.M. ROADMOVIE". While lead singer Michael Stipe's voice is often intelligible, some of the intelligent lyrics easily succumb to the sound of guitars and drums. With the subtitles on, every important word to "Everybody Hurts", "Man on the Moon" and more can be understood. The picture looks wonderful, with sharp colors in spite of difficult concert lighting effects. The digital stereo surround sounds great, although it's a shame it isn't available in Dolby Digital 5.1 as the back cover suggests.

"Eric Clapton Unplugged" feels like an up-close intimate concert with the master guitarist, vocalist, songwriter. He's aged well, and his new music as well as some of his classics are featured among 14 songs on this DVD. The picture is always sharp, and the Dolby Digital 5.1 offers more atmosphere with enhanced directional effects over the standard dolby surround track.
