VIVID has just released "WHERE THE BOY'S AREN'T #13, and it's actually one of the best of the "WTBA" series.  While we'll have to admit, not seeing a guy take part in the action, means missing out on a lot of the fun, but when the girls are this hot,  we'll settle for it!  Janine is still one of the best adult performers in the business.  Again, we're really disappointed that she doesn't like to do girl/guy scenes, but to look at her pleasing or being pleased by a woman, is still hot!  Kobe Tai, Julia Ann and more beautiful VIVID girls round out the cast.

The "plot" has these hotties going over to their friend, Jenteal's house for a bachelorette party.  When the stripper doesn't show,....well,....?

VIVID tends to do a competent job with their transfers overall, and "WHERE THE BOYS AREN'T #13" is one of their better looking releases. While it's still a little soft in spots, the fleshtones are natural and contrast is generally fine.  There are a few artifacts present, but nothing distracting.  The sound doesn't offer any directional effects, although the front soundstage offers intelligible dialogue, though not necessary, and decent stereo sound.

Cassidey stars in "DIARY OF DESIRE".  Cassidey is one of VIVID's newest performers, and judging from her work here, she's got a long career ahead.  First of all, she looks beautiful! She has the face of a model, not worn out at all, and great complexion.  

This is one of the raunchiest releases from VIVID.  Randy Spears gives it to Tasha Hunter in a tough anal scene.  Add to this, a pretty intense deepthroat scene and more than enough "facials."

The quality of the image is fine.  There is some artifacting in spots, but overall the image is good.  Color values are strong. Contrast is fine.

The sound quality is adequate, although there's no real separation in spite of the "Stereo" label.  

Porn star/producer Dyanna Lauren's "interactive" releases, tend to be a mixed bag.  Some of them have been pretty fun, featuring beautiful girls, hot footage and accessible "interactive" features via the dvd player's remote control.   On some of these releases, viewers can select the position with which the featured model performs sexual acts, thereby switching from oral sex to rear action,etc.  "ANIMAL INSTINCTS" is not one of her better productions.  While the girls are alright looking, none of them are beautiful, and the footage is extremely soft! We're not talking about image quality either!  This is really tame stuff.  Furthermore, viewers will probably tend to become frustrated with the remote control interactivity.  We found it less accessible, in terms of ease-of-use, than earlier, less sophisticated "Dyanna Lauren" releases.

The transfer from VIVID is excellent.  There's great clarity here.  Fleshtones appear natural throughout!  The colors are solid, and there's minimal artifacting. Contrast is pretty sharp as well, with distinguished blacks and grays, even in darker scenes.

The DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 sound offers "no" directional effects, although the music sounds great, and the stereo elements in the front soundstage are pleasing.

"EROTOMANIA" stars Alex Taylor, and we're looking forward to seeing any and all of her next VIVID releases.  She's one of the best looking girls at VIVID, and that's a major accomplishment, considering how many beauties they've got under contract right now!   The plot,...well, there's not one to speak of really, but what little plot there is, pretends to be a mixture of sex and the "organized" business world.  Really, it's the cliche "adult" film, with little more dialogue than what's essential for the next scene to be set up for a wild sex act, and there are plenty of them here!  This VIVID release is also one of the better "MULTI-ANGLE" editions.  Whereas many of these offer angles that appear almost redundant of themselves, the ones offered here are truly distinct and consistent throughout the film.

The image appears sharp for the most part, although there is some grain infrequently throughout the film.  The fleshtones appear natural, and there's pretty good resolution.  There is some minor artifacting.

The dolby digital 5.1 sound offers "no" real directional effects, although the dialogue is better focused than many recent releases.  The stereo music sounds fine, although limited in frequency.

Heather Hunter stars in "DEAR JOHN."  The plot has Heather growing tired of her marriage, and going so far as to pen a "dear John" letter to the husband.  Events move quickly, and soon enough Heather's ventured into the bathroom at a cocktail party to begin her sexual desires outside of marriage. 

Heather looks incredible here.  There's plenty of action, and while this "VIVID" title never succumbs to the raunchiness of a "RAW" title, it's pretty wild stuff.  Sharise joins the action, and together with  Sean Michaels, Teri Diver, and others, this is a pretty steamy title. 

The transfer is fine, although it doesn't offer the high resolution found on many other WAVE titles.  Fleshtones vary from scene to scene, and the colors aren't that strong.  Contrast is fine.  

The sound is adequate, although there's some minor background hiss in a few places.

Jenteal stars in "SMOKE SCREEN".  This film actually tries to have a plot too convoluted for its own good.  To get to the specifics, during a visit, a girlfriend's discussion of another girl's death, cause the imagination of one of them to run wild.  This is really no more than a plot device to offer some exotic locales and the chance for one of the girls to imagine her life as a stripper.  Still, who cares?  It's fun to watch!  Jenteal is at her unusual best being bad.  She "enjoys" her work and there's plenty of multiple-angle shots to get a great view of her here!

The quality to this "VIVID" release is really good.  The fleshtones appear natural throughout!  There's minimal artifacting, and contrast is fine.

The Dolby Digital sound offers no directional effects, although the music has separation to it, and dialogue is always intelligible.

Taylor Hayes stars in Toni Englishs "SPIES IN THE HOUSE OF LOVE".  English is one of the better "adult" film directors out there.  While he's no "Anthony Blake", he's got style, and his films look better than most.  This one's got some funny dialogue, decent acting, and plenty of sex in every position imaginable!  Most importantly, 90% of these girls are "HOT!"  No slouches here!  The multi-angle feature is one that's certain to be used on this title more than most.  At least we thought so, because you'll want to watch and "re-watch" these gorgeous girls as much as possible.

The quality of the transfer is fine.  Color values are strong and fleshtones are natural.  There is some minor artifacting, but it's not distracting overall.  Contrast is adequate, although some of the darker scenes don't offer the deepest blacks and grays.

The sound is fine. Dialogue is always intellgible and free of distortion.  There's some separation, but only for music background.

Kelly O' Dell stars in "DOMINOES".  O'Dell plays the platonic friend of Randy Spears here.  Things quickly change from platonic to physical after Spears introduces a beautiful girl into the mix.  Of course, this leads to multiple partners and acts.  We're a little disappointed(as will you be) that this isn't a multi-angle dvd!  It really calls for it!  Still, the story is better than average. The girls are terrific looking and while the dialogue doesn't offer any "funny" lines, it's not bad.

The quality of the transfer is fine, although contrast is only average.  The picture looks too grainy in a few scenes.  Fleshtones appear natural for the most part, and color values are fine.

The sound is average.  We noticed some distortion in a few spots.

Jeff Stryker "and" Samantha Strong star in "HEIRESS".  Since both of these "adult" stars have a big following, this feature allows both to push themselves further than usual.  This looks more like a "RAW" title than "WAVE".  While it's never "raunchy", it's not as soft as most "WAVE" titles are in comparison.   Strong is a buxom, beautiful girl, and she really lets loose in "HEIRESS".  Her fans won't be disappointed.   Again, we're surprised that this wasn't a Multi-angle release, as there are some great scenes that could've benefited from it.

The quality of the transfer is first-rate!  Color values are strong.  Fleshtones appear natural in every scene.  Artifacting is minimal.

The sound is free of distortion and dialogue is always intellgible.
