Yet another CGI animated film for 06! The last CGI film about animals, "MADAGASCAR", was awful, but "THE WILD" actually has enough heart in it, to make it entertaining and moving for kids and adults alike. Sutherland voices the lead role as a lion, breaking free from the zoo, to find his son whom has been moved away. He quickly feels the real "Wild" is in the streets of New York.
BUENA VISTA has preserved the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with 16:9 enhancement. Colors are a bit subdued too much of the time. There are also scenes that are distracting do to the intentional blurred imagery the filmmakers intentionally created to provide a sense of depth. However, with these flaws, there are still great moments and the detail is typically impressive.
BUENA VISTA has provided a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. It's not the creative, aggressive mix that made "TOY STORY" so much fun. But, there are enough separation effects, front and rear, to make it an engaging experience. Bass is virtually non-existent. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
Deleted scenes and a music video are included.
